FIELD: mechanical engineering; exhaust gas cleaning catalysts. SUBSTANCE: reagent used in catalyst is metered out depending on required parameters of exhaust gas and temperature of catalyst and is added into exhaust gas to form mixture which is then directed through catalyst. Temperature is determined recursively as function depending on place and time, basing on parameters significant for operation and design. Activity in catalyst is determined basing on temperature. Reagent is metered out to suit activity. EFFECT: possibility of dispensing with temperature sensors intake catalyst. 10 cl, 3 dwg
