PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable teelphone system which is capable of comprehending at a glance a notification permission or inhibition setting state of an originator number and also can easily perform the switching between the notification persmission and inhibition modes. SOLUTION: In this portable telephone system 2, a state display control part 18 shows the information showing the set state of a setting part 12 at a display part 10 at least in an originating mode. Therefore, a user can easily find out whether the notification of an originator number is permitted or is inhibited by looking at the display of the part 10. A set switching part 20 switches the set state of the part 12, when a dial key and then an arbitrary key excluding a call key are operated at an operation part 6, before the call key is operated. Thereby, the user can perform the switching between the notification permission or inhibition modes of the originator number as necessary in an originating mode through an extremely simple operation.
