PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize long stroke, reduction in the variation of propelling force, large propelling force, reduction in size and weight and low cost by applying a current at least to a couple of winding based on a position detecting signal sequentially output with movement of a rotor. SOLUTION: This linear motor is composed of a rotor consisting of a permanent magnet, a stator consisting of yoke and winding 3a to 3z having identical coil specifications and a position sensor 20 consisting of magneto electric conversion elements 21a to 21z fixed to the winding 3a to 3z and a control circuit consisting of a drive circuit 31, a winding selection circuit 32 and a current control circuit 33. A current is applied at least two winding among the winding 3a to 3z, based on the position signal from the position sensor 20 and a rotor moves in the direction based on a moving direction setting input with the propelling force based on a current value setting input. |
