DEVICE AND METHOD FOR PERFORMING SNAP SHOT COPY OF VOLUME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for performing the snap shot copy of a remote secondary volume to the other volume on a remote subsystem by setting up a peer-to-peer remote copy(PPRC) session. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a primary storage subsystem 12 having a primary data storage device equipped with at least one primary volume 32. A primary processor repeats a request for the execution of snap shot copy at one part of the primary volume 32 at least to a secondary storage subsystem 14. The secondary storage subsystem 14 is provided with a secondary data storage device having a secondary volume 60 and while using the remote copy session, the secondary volume 60 is kept duplexed with the primary volume 32. A secondary processor performs the snap shot copy of the correspondent section of the secondary volume 60 in response to the repeated request so as to perform operation equal with the snap shot copy at a part of the primary volume 32 at least.
