OBJECT DETECTOR AND USER NUMBER DETECTOR FOR ELEVATOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an object detector with which the accuracy of detection is not deteriorated even without a device for dimming the lightness of a monitored area. SOLUTION: Concerning this object detector, a background image memory 7 stores image data having no object in the area monitored by an image pickup device 1 and a current image memory 3 stores image data having any object in the monitored area. An object detecting means 8 compares both said image data and outputs an object detecting signal 9. When a lightness detecting means 4 detects the lightness of the image pickup device 1 exceeds a prescribed range and the object detecting signal 9 is not outputted, an exposure time adjusting means 5 changes the exposure time of the image pickup device 1 and a background image updating means 6 stores the said changed input image data in the background image memory 7 for updating.
