PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the image quality of an edge area and an internal area of a character. SOLUTION: A character edge part detector 1 detects whether or not an input image is the edge of a character and outputs the edge/non-edge detection signal of 1 bit. A character ridge part detector 2 detects whether or not the input image is the internal area of the character and outputs the internal area/ non-internal area detection signal of 1 bit. An OR circuit 3 ORs the respective detection signals of the character edge part detector 1 and the character ridge part detector 2 and outputs the character/non-character detection signal of 1 bit. |
