PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate stable high voltage pulses while suppressing unevenness of the high voltage pulses with a simple circuit structure. SOLUTION: This lighting apparatus comprises a d.c. power source circuit 2 to obtain d.c. power by rectifying and smoothing a.c. power from an a.c. power source 1 and a lamp La and is further provided with an inverter circuit 10, which comprises a voltage decreasing chopper circuit 11 having a capacitor C110 connected in parallel to the lamp La, a polarity inverting circuit 12 and a control circuit 14, and obtains rectangular waveform a.c. power to be supplied to the lamp La through the capacitor C110. An igniter circuit 13 for generating high voltage pulses in the secondary wound wire N2 side to shift the lamp La to the lighting state responding to the turning on of the switching element Q130 is installed in the inverter circuit 10 and a resistor R131 whose resistance becomes higher than the on-resistance of switching elements Q120-Q123 is inserted in a loop in which the pulsed current flows in the igniter circuit 13. |
