摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inspection device and inspection method for a fuel assembly capable of highly efficiently inspecting by assessing a neutron detector on to the inspection object fuel assembly and draining cooling water in a neutron shield and increasing the neutron flux. SOLUTION: The inspection device 1 of a fuel assembly concerning the invention described in claim 1 is characterized by constituted of a box 2 which is an open bottom cylinder surrounding the upper part of a MOX fresh fuel assembly 12, a neutron detector 6 surrounded by a neutron moderator 5 contained in the box 2 and an inlet pipe 7 connected to the box 2. By this, a neutron detector can be easily arranged close to the upper part of the inspection object fuel assembly among a multitude of fuel assemblies especially MOX fresh fuel assemblies stored underwater in a fuel pool and the like as a fuel assembly storage facility. By draining surrounding water and forming a space, the neutron count rate is improved and efficient inspection is possible.
