Mobile weights ensure that the point of the marine vessel anchor pierces the sea bed. The ship's anchor has a frame (7) within which are vertical guide posts (4,5). Counter weights (8-10) are mounted to slide vertically on these guide posts, within the frame, carrying with them a central major arm (6). The spear head may be arranged to open out once embedded in the sea bed in order to secure the anchorage.
