PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect an amount of an expansion-contraction distortion and a skew distortion required for correcting the expansion-contraction distortion and the skew distortion by a method wherein a plurality of templates arrayed in a transfer direction of webs are used, and a position misalignment amount between a reference image and an image to be tested is detected in each of the templates. SOLUTION: Real template setting means 6 first reads out reference image data 2 and produces template data 1 which are data in a specified region within the reference image data 2. Top and bottom direction position misalignment amount detecting means 7 and right-hand and left-hand direction position misalignment amount detecting means 8 read out image-to-beatested data 3, and detect these position misalignment amounts by using a real template for detecting a position misalignment amount in a top and bottom direction and a right-hand and left-hand direction. Further, all directions position misalignment amount detecting means 9 calculates all directions position misalignment amount 4 by using the real template only in the vicinity of the position misalignment amount in the top and bottom direction and the right-hand and left-hand direction. Thus, it is possible to calculate the position misalignment 4 with high precision and at a high speed. |
