PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface light source with such a structure that hardly exerts thermal influence on liquid crystal in a liquid crystal panel by limiting a range of an incident angle to an incident end face of a light guide plate so that a mutual reflection frequency of light in the light guide plate is suppressed to the minimum. SOLUTION: A reflector 40 has both prism arrays 40c. Each of the prism arrays 40c is provided with plural rectangular prisms 42, and each rectangular prism 42 has a tilted reflecting surface 42a reflecting light of a cold cathode ray tube 30 onto an incident end face 22 of a light guide plate 20. Here, a tilt angleψof each reflecting surface 42a is set so that a mutual reflection frequency of the light reflected by each reflecting surface 42a and made incident on the incident end face 22 is suppressed to the minimum. |
