A method of manufacturing the metal carrier within a condition range in which lambda b represented by lambda b=6.8x10<-12>x delta f<-1>xF<1/2>xRa<-1/2>xT<1/4>xexp(15000/T)xb<1/2> is not less than 8 and not more than 20 under the condition, 7.52x10<9>xexp(-35000/T)>/=8xPout, provided that a foil thickness is delta f(m), average foil surface roughness Ra(m), back tension when rolled up F(kgf), contact width between flat foil and wavy foil b(m), heat treating temperature T(K) and vacuum degree Pout (Pa).
