Work table consisting of a substantially horizontal worktop behind which a user can take place, with one or more legs on which the worktop is or can be placed, at the rear of the worktop a substantially vertical semi-cylindrical screen being arranged, which extends beyond eye level of an intended seated user. The screen is made from a sound absorbing material. The worktop consists of a fixed section of the top enclosed by the screen and a foldable section of the top protruding beyond the screen. The worktop can be adjusted in height and rests on two or more legs which at the lower side are provided with wheels, for instance swivel castors.
