The invention relates to a spatial resolution gamma -ray detector comprising a metal sheet (1) in which incident gamma -rays are absorbed due to photoelectric effect. At least one stripline diode (2-5) is adjacent to the metal sheet (1). The surface of the diode with the striplines (2) is oriented towards the metal sheet (1). Preferably, the metal sheet (1) is corrugated. The inventive gamma -ray detector is placed in a gamma -ray to be detected so that the gamma -ray enters the gamma -ray detector parallel to the striplines (2) of the diode. The inventive detector allows for particularly high spatial resolutions.
