Method of producing a print, especially a multicolor proof, using laser-induced thermal transfer

The method involves heating a surface layer according to an image using one or more laser beams from a laser unit (2) and applying the processed surface elements to a substrate (1a). A strip transfer foil (8) is used with a narrow width compared to the substrate so that the gas produced during laser illumination can be adequately dispersed. The foil is continuously fed between the substrate and laser beams tight against the substrate surface during illumination and is moved over the substrate width simultaneously and in synchronism with the movement of the laser illumination unit. An Independent claim is also included for an arrangement for producing a print, especially a proof, using laser-induced thermal transfer.
