<p>A harness-like restraint (10) is provided that may be used for securing a child to a gurney for transport in an ambulance. The restraint includes a backing member (12) on which a series of mounting and securing straps are provided. The mounting straps (18) define a mounting assembly for securing the backing member to a support structure, seat, or bed, such as a gurney. The securing straps define a harness for securing the patient to the backing member so as to minimize longitudinal or lateral movement of the patient relative to the backing member and thus relative to the gurney or other support structure during transit. The securing straps include shoulder, waist and crotch straps (50, 42) that are fastened together by a complementary tongue/pin (52) and buckle assembly. In order to achieve a snug, secure fit of the harness upon the patient, the lengths of the straps may be respectively adjusted through the use of the length adjustment buckles.</p> |
