The invention relates to a grit recovery apparatus of the pneumatic kind comprising a suction device (2) for material comprising the grit to be recovered, and a separating device (3) connected with the suction device (2) for separating dust and grit, as well as storage units (4, 5) for the separated dust and grit. The separating device (3) is embodied as a tank (3) in which a glancing plate (6) is provided for the deceleration of the material introduced into the separating device (3), wherein, viewed in the direction of processing, a slanting screen plate (7) is placed behind the glancing plate (6) for taking the material from the top side over the screen plate (7) in order to separate that material into a fine fraction and a coarse fraction, which screen plate (7) divides the space in the tank (3) into a dust discharge space (8) under the screen plate (7), and a grit removal space (9) above the screen plate (7), which spaces are in communication with the storage unit (5) for the dust and the storage unit (4) for the grit, respectively.
