<p>A small-sized magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus designed to keep its internal mechanisms from external forces. A main arm (26) and a sub-arm (29) are adapted to refrain from meeting a photodetector (31) while moving in a plane that the photodetector belongs to, resulting in a reduction in the width of the apparatus. The thickness of a MIC-SW46 is reduced and its upper end is supported on a backplate (48), resulting in a reduction in the depth of the apparatus. When a sub-chassis (19) moves from the unloading position to the loading position, a cassette holder (13) is locked by a clamp (42) so it can be protected from external forces.</p> |
