<p>A method of detecting a target polynucleotide using a solution phase nucleic acid sandwich assay, wherein the solid support is an optical planar waveguide, and the label is detected by measuring the luminescence that is excited in the evanescent field of the waveguide. A fully automated system may be used. The method may be of use in detecting nucleic acids associated with disease at very low concentrations.</p> |
