Water turbidity measuring apparatus

Measurement of the turbidity of water or effluent is effected within a housing (1) having a measuring window (3) which is coupled to an oscillation generator (11). The oscillation generator may be mechanical or a piezoelectrical device. The window is linked to the surrounding housing by an elastic surround (2) and oscillates parallel and/or at right angles to the window plane (6) at a frequency of 18-100 kHz. The frequency is selected to generate cavitation noise. The window also oscillates in the ultrasonic range, transverse (5) to the plane.
