A hollow earthenware or porcelain object (14), with its open top oriented downwards is brought against the open top of a glazing cup (26) so that a seal is formed between them. The glazing head together with the object (14) is dipped into a bath for outside glazing, with inside glazing taking place before, during or after outside glazing. The claimed installation includes a feed unit (12) for delivery of objects to be glazed to a glazing machine (18) with a rotary table (20) provided with a number of glazing cups (26). It further includes transfer units (16, 40).
