The tool drives a heavy-load anchor into a borehole in a wall or ceiling. The tool is clamped in the chuck of a hammer drill. There is a recess in the endface (5) of the setting tool (1) to serve as a receiver for the striking pin (6) of the anchor (8). The striking surface (4) of the tool transfers the hammer blows to the striking pin of the anchor.
