The valve drive has a lever, which is power-charged via a cam, and is supported on a valve shaft (13) and a height-adjustable support element (2). The pressure chamber (6) has a connection (7) to a pressure-charged oil circuit (9,10), which is blocked by a shutoff element (8). The support element is formed as a cylindrical piston and moves axially in an engine housing-fastened guide sleeve (3). The end face of the support element and the wall of the guide bore (14) define a pressure chamber. The end face of the element is charged by a return spring (5).
