PROCESS FOR PREPARING 4-SUBSTITUTED CIS-CYCLOHEXYLAMINES

By the present process, 4-substituted cyclohexylamines of cis configuration of formula (II) are prepared by reductive amination of cyclohexanones of formula (I). In both formulae, R is an optionally substituted aliphatic or aromatic radical or a silyl radical. The two-step process is carried out by reacting, in the first step, the cyclohexanones of formula (I) in the presence of hydrogen with a benzylic amine in the presence of a catalyst comprising a metal from the group consisting of nickel and the platinum metals to give N-benzylic cyclohexylamines of formula (VII) in which Ph is phenyl and X is hydrogen or methyl, and reacting, in a second step, these cyclohexylamines in the presence of hydrogen and in the presence of a catalyst comprising a metal from the group of the platinum metals to give the 4-substituted cis-cyclohexylamines of formula (II).
