The method involves realigning an operation- and maintenance centre (OMC1) and a superior network management centre (NMC) at loss and restoration of an internal interface (01, Abisl, Asub1) of a base station sub-system (BSS11) managed by the operation- and maintenance centre. The active alarms appearing in this base station sub-system are stored in the operation- and maintenance centre. A realignment procedure is executed between a network element (NE, BSC1, BTSE1, TRAU1) of the base station sub-system, to which the internal interface was lost, and the operation- and maintenance centre. After restoration of the internal interface, a list of stored active alarms, concerning this network element is updated, and the updated alarms are transmitted to the network management centre. A respective alarm notification (alarm notif.) is transmitted for each interface to indicate the start and the end of an interface loss through the operation- and maintenance centre to the network management centre. A condition change message (attrValChange notif.) is transmitted, which indicates a network element of the base station sub-system accessible by the operation- and maintenance centre over this interface, and which describes the reliability of the alarm notification concerning this network element. The condition change message is transmitted at the start of an interface loss and after successful transmitting the updated alarms to the network management centre.
