The device is essentially characterized in that it is comprised of an assembly of individual sensors for each of the seats of a row of tip-up seats which send or do not send a signal to a digital counting circuit. A light screen provided in the seat which is situated at the extremity of the row displays the total of free seats in the row as well as the maximum quantity of contiguous seats in said row so that users can decide more quickly and easily in scarce light conditions where they want to seat.
