AUTOMATIC RETRACTABLE HEAD RESTRAINT

A vehicle seat assembly (10) with a retractable head rest (16) that rotates from an upright stowed position to a lowered, retracted, stowed position to improve visibility for a vehicle driver. The mechanism allowing for the rotation of head rest (16) is contained within the head rest (16) itself thus eliminating modification of the seat back (12) to which the head rest (16) is mounted. The head rest (16) is vertically adjustable relative to the seat back (12) and is rotatably adjustable within a range of upright use positions.
