<p>A method of disposing of used tyres comprises removing the rubber component of tyres from the associated casing, granulating the rubber, enclosing the granulated rubber in impervious chemically inert containers adapted to fit together to provide a stable, close packed integrated mass, and stacking the containers to form the integrated mass. Suitable containers are described, including a container 200 having upper and lower portions 201 and 202, projections 203, indentations 205 and protrusions on the lower portion. Crumple zone 208 is also provided. The projections 203 of the containers interlock on stacking. Channels (301, Fig.3) between stacked containers may be filled with inert material, e.g. earth or sand, to decrease the fire risk.</p> |
