Copolymers of ethylene and 3-12 C alpha -olefins, with a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of more than 3 and a narrow comonomer distribution characterized by a certain standard deviation of the mean weighted elution temperature as determined by the temperature-rising-elution-fraction method (TREF). Copolymers of ethylene and at least one 3-12C alpha -olefin, with a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of more than 3 and a comonomer distribution characterized by a standard deviation ( sigma ) of the average weighted elution temperature Ta (determined by the TREF method) which is defined by the following expression: sigma k4 -k1 (Ta-k0) - k2k3(Ta-k0)/(1 + k3(Ta-k0)( degrees C) (1) k0 = 338.5 degrees C; k1 = 0.053; k2 = 1.1318 degrees C; k3 = 0.00483 degrees C<-1>; k4 = 0.55 degrees C; Ta = below 98 degrees C. Independent claims are included for: (a) a process for the production of these copolymers using a supported catalyst system obtained by: (A) reacting an inorganic support with a metal compound of formula M<1)<R<1>)r(R<2>)s(R<3>)t(R<4>)u (I); (B) reacting the material obtained with a bridged metallocene dihalide and a metallocenium ion-forming compound; and (C) reacting with a metal compound of formula M<2)<R<5>)o(R<6>)p(R<7>)q(II); and (b) film, hollow products and fibers produced from these copolymers. M<1> = an alkali or alkaline earth metal or a Main Group III or IV metal; R<1>, R<5> = H, 1-10C alkyl, 6-15C aryl, alkylaryl or aralkyl (both with 1-10 C alkyl and 6-20 C aryl groups); R<2>-R<4> = H, halogen, 1-10 C alkyl or alkoxy, di(1-10 C alkyl)-amino, 6-15 C aryl, alkylaryl or aralkyl (as above); r = 1-4; s, t, u = 0-3; (r+s+t+u) = the valency of M<1>; M<2> = alkali or alkaline earth metal, zinc, or a Main Group III metal; R<6>, R<7> = R<2>-R<4>, excepting dialkylamino; o = 1-3; p, q = 0-2; (o+p+q) = valency of M<2>.
