An electrical connector (10) for an electronic component (70) comprises a housing (12) having a component-receiving cavity, and two terminals (54) disposed in the housing (12). Each side wall of the housing (12) includes an inwardly directed retention portion (46) dimensioned to secure the component (70) in the component-receiving cavity. The housing (12) has two terminal-receiving passageways (32) extending to a component insertion face (14) and the component (70) includes two leads (80) extending outwardly therefrom.
