PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an artificial fine aggregate having comparable effect with natural sand by making a tacky water-dispersible resin adhere to the surface of the coarse granular ash in coal ash and also by making the fine granular ash in the coal ash adhere to the water-dispersible resin. SOLUTION: Coarse granular ash is bottom ash, cinder ash or the like having been discarded and disposed of because of its low quality, among coal ash discharged from e.g. coal single firing boilers. A water-diluted resin is pref. a latex emulsion or polybutene emulsion which is prepared by diluting a resin with water so as to be 0.5-5 wt.% in resin content. Fine granular ash is charged, together with the coarse granular ash sprinkled with the water-diluted resin, at 50-500 l/m<3> per m<3> of the coarse granular ash, followed by agitation, thereby being sprinkled on the surface of the coarse granular ash to effect adhesion; thus obtaining the objective artificial aggregate having smooth surface and improved in physical properties. Compared with crushed sand, this artificial aggregate requires no excessive unit amount of water for conferring fluidity on concrete, therefore no crack develops in hardened concrete compounded with this artificial aggregate, leading to obviating relevant industrial waste disposal sites.
|
