PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a lubricant composition having excellent lubricity, usable at a high temperature without deterioration for a long period and useful for an oil for an internal combustion engine, a gear oil or the like by blending a specific additive such as a sulfur-containing antioxidant with a lubricant base oil comprising a trimellitic ester. SOLUTION: This lubricant composition comprises (A) alubricant base oil comprising a compound of formula I (R is a hydrocarbon) and (B) a sulfur- containing antioxidant [e.g. a phenolic sulfur-containing antioxidant such as 4,4'.-thiobis (3-methyl-6-tert-butylphenol)], a compound of formula II [R<1> to R<4> are each a hydrocarbon such as a 2-14C alkyl; X<1> to X<4> are each O or S, preferably having an atomic ratio of SHO regulated so as to be (3/1)-(1/3)] or a compound of formula III (R<5> to R<8> are each R<1> to R<4> ; X<5> to X<8> are each X<1> to X<4> ). Preferably, the composition contains 0.01-10 wt.% component B based on the amount of the component A in the case of the sulfur-containing antioxidant, or 0.005-10 wt.% component B in the case of the compound of formula II or III. |
