摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compound useful as a photochromic material. SOLUTION: A compound of formula I [A and B are each a heterocyclic group of formula II (Y is O, S, selenium or N-R<4> ; W is N or C-R<5> ; R<1> , R<2> , R<3> and R<5> are each H, an alkyl or the like; R<4> is H, an alkyl or the like)], for example, 1,2-bis[2-methyl-5-(4-acetylphenyl)-thiophen-3-yl]perfluorocyclopentene. A monoarylcyclopentene having only one aryl group among the compound of formula I can selectively be synthesized by adjusting the mixing ratio of a perfluorocyclopentene to an aryl halide. A symmetric or asymmetric diarylethene can be synthesized. A method for introducing an aryl group as a substituent of an aromatic heterocyclic group of formula II comprises metallizing the metallization-permitting position of an aromatic heterocyclic compound and subsequently reacting the metallized compound with an aryl halide to introduce the aryl group.
