PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bacterium which converts glucose into L-serine, and also provide a method for producing, on a commercial scale, or accumulating L-serine in a culture solution by the conversion function of the bacterium. SOLUTION: This method for producing L-serine cultures a coryneform group of bacteria, having L-serine productivity, at least one of phosphoserine phosphatase activity and phosphoserine transaminase, and, preferably an introduced gene coding for D-3-phosphoglycerate dehydrogenase freed from feedback inhibition by L-serine, in a culture medium, and recovers the L-serine from the culture medium. |
