PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the fuel consumption by extending the stopping time of an engine as long as possible in such a range as to prevent controllability of a vehicle from being deteriorated, in the vehicle provided with a manual transmission. SOLUTION: When a clutch switch 9 is in the off state (a clutch is placed in connection) or when a clutch switch 9 is in the on state and the shift position is the neutral position, restarting of fuel supply after fuel cut is prohibited by a command from an electronic control unit 1, an engine E is stopped, and unnecessary idling is prohibited. When the clutch switch 9 is in the on state and the shift position becomes in-gear while the engine E is stopped, a starter motor 7 is automatically driven, and the engine is started. |
