PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase printing speed while ensuring print quality by arranging print dots in a row after deciding whether each print dot is black or white, subjecting print data in other row and two adjacent rows to OR operation and converting the print data of three rows into a thinned-out print data of two rows. SOLUTION: Print data in two adjacent rows is subjected to OR operation and a decision is made whether a print dot is black (print dot is driven) or white (print dot is not driven) before print dots are arranged in a row. For example, a decision is made whether the print dot is black or white for the print data in first and second rows received from a host unit and then the print dots are arranged in a row. Furthermore, print data in the second and third rows received from the host unit is subjected to OR operation and the print data of three rows is converted to a print data of two rows. At the time of normal printing, print speed can be increased by a factor of 1.5 as compared with high quality printing while ensuring high print quality. |
