PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink absorber exhibiting high space availability in a tank when it is housed therein, and a production method thereof. SOLUTION: An ink tank 10 has an opening 11 communicating with the atmosphere at the upper part thereof and an ink supply opening 12 at the lower part thereof. A housing 10a of the ink tank 10 is filled with an ink absorber 26 comprising a part 26a of relatively weak capillary force and a part 26b of relatively strong capillary force. The part 26b of relatively strong capillary force is located locally at a part close to the inside of the ink supply opening 12 of the ink tank 10.
