PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a highly heat-resistant artificial marble without impairing its designability by making the artificial marble include a specific hydroxyl group-contg. polymer and a metal hydroxide. SOLUTION: This artificial marble includes (A) pref. 25-90 wt.% of a vinyl polymer prepared from a radical-polymerizable vinyl compound having one or more hydroxyl groups [e.g. 2-hydroxyethyl (meth)acrylate] pref. using a crosslinking agent having a plurality of ethylenic unsaturated bonds and (B) pref. 10-75 wt.% of a metal hydroxide (e.g. aluminum hydroxide) with an average particle size of pref. 0.001-200μm. Furthermore, (C) 0.001-20 wt.% of a silane compound having ethylenic unsaturated bond and alkoxysilyl or silanol group (e.g. vinyltrimethoxysilane) is preferably included.
