PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of hunting phenomenon through interference of engine output control for constant speed running with continuously variable transmission control for engine brake control. SOLUTION: The arrival target input rotational frequency Nif* of a transmission is calculated at 52 from a car speed and a throttle opening based on a shift map, and it is decided at 53 by ON or OFF of an ASCD actuating switch whether a car is under constant speed running. When it is not under constant speed running, well-known engine brake control is performed at 54. Namely, since deceleration is not demanded when a throttle is not fully closed, the Nif* is set to the target input rotational frequency Nie* and the arrival target input rotational frequency Nif* for engine brake control is not corrected. Since, when the throttle is fully closed, deceleration is demanded, the Nif* is corrected such that a vehicle acceleration and deceleration is adjusted to a given value and a result is set to the target input rotational frequency Nie*. When a car is under constant speed running, the Nif* is set at 55 to the target input rotational frequency Nie*, and no gear shift of a continuously variable transmission for engine brake control is actually executed. |
