PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high density image capable of being discriminated by near UV ray or visible ray by incorporating a barbituric acid derivative or thiobarbituric acid derivative in a recording layer, and further incorporating an aldehyde compound. SOLUTION: A thermal recording layer contains a barbituric acid or thiobarbituric acid derivative and further an aldehyde compound. As a barbituric acid or thiobarbituric acid derivative a compound in formula I is preferable. In the formula I, R1 , R2 respectively are an alkyl group or an aralkyl group, and X1 is an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom. As an aldehyde compound, a compound of formula II is preferable. In the formula II, R3 , R4 , R5 , R6 are respectively a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, or a halogen atom, and X2 is an alkoxy group or dialkylamino group. Such thermal recording material enables formation of high density images that can be discriminated by near UV rays or visible rays, having no decoloration. |
