发明名称 ORGANIC THIN FILM AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DEVICE
摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an organic thin layer that can form a homogeneous membrane with a reduced nuber of laminations and is useful as an oriented film for liquid crystal devices. SOLUTION: For this organic thin layer, a pendant type liquid crystal polymer that includes silicon in the main chain in which these silicon atoms bear through a spacer groups such as an alkylene group a liquid crystal mesogen group, is used. The liquid crystal mesogen group preferably bears s fluorine-containing terminal group. In a preferred embodiment, this liquid crystal polymer comprises 40-60 mol.% of the recurring units of formula I (Meso represents a liquid crystal mesogen group in combination with X; X is fluorine of the like; n is 2-10) and 60-40 mol.% of the recurring units of formula II and has a number-average molecular weight of 1,000-100,000. This organic membrane is prepared by the Langmuir Blodgett membrane technique or the like.
