<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject novel organotin compound that comprises a specific organotin silane including a tetravalent organotin and is useful as a hewterogenous catalyst readily separable from a reaction product mixture and useful in the reactions such as esterification, transesterification, siloxane formation and urethane formation. SOLUTION: This novel compound is represented by formula I R<1> is F, Cl, Br, I, OR R is a (substituted) 1-2C alkyl, a 5-12C cycloalkyl, an aryl], R; where at least one of R<1> is F, Cl, Br, I, OR; R<2> is R<1> , benzyl, vinyl, allyl, hydride, a group of formula II [(n) is 1-18; R<3> is a (CH2 )m ((m) is 0-17; total of (n) and (m) is 1-18; where, in the case wherein R<3> is an aryl or a cycloalkyl, (n) is at least 2)]} and is useful as a catalyst for the following reactions: esterification or transesterification, siloxane formation, urethane formation and the like. The compound is prepared by reaction of 1,1-diorgano- oxysilacyclobutane with a tin halide of formula IV.</p> |
