PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a system scale while commonly using an acceleration sensor for preventing a side surface collision by converting the acceleration signal in the lateral direction to the speed signal, and sorting the kind of a collision, and comparing with a first and a second threshold values, and outputting the second collision signal so as to output the expanding signal. SOLUTION: The acceleration signal detected by a right and left acceleration sensor 30 is extracted through an A/D converting means 41, a high pass filter means 42, a low pass filter means 43, and converted to the speed signal by an acceleration/speed converting means 45, and the trigger signal is supplied to a collision condition judging means 46 so as to discriminate a collision at a high speed collision or a collision at a middle speed. This discrimination is supplied to a first and a second threshold value generating means 47, 48, and when the acceleration signal exceeds the threshold value from the first and the second threshold value generating means 47, 48, a first and a second comparing means 51, 52 respectively output the first and the second collision preparatory signal, and a first switch is turned on through a first AND gate 55 so as to expand a side air bag. The similar operation is performed at a driver's seat side. |
