PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a matte colored glass cloth hardly exhibiting variation in color without decreasing breaking strength by using a colorant for glass cloth contg. hollow particles. SOLUTION: As the hollow particles, org. hollow particles are pref., esp. hollow particles comprising a carboxylated copolymer. Though not specifically limited, the particle sizes of the hollow particles are pref. 0.2-1μm in terms of easiness of production of an emulsion of org. hollow particles when the emulsion is used as the material for the colorant. The solid content of hollow particles in the colorant for glass cloth is pref. 1-8 wt.%. The colorant can further contain a softener, which further improves the breaking strength. A known softener for treating fibers can be used as the above softener. After org. substances attached to glass fibers are removed by heating, the surfaces of the glass fibers are coated with a pigment dispresed in a resin contg. the hollow particles, thus giving a colored glass cloth. |
