PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a good image without generating an image noise due to adhesion of toner to a spacer even after long time operation of a printer. SOLUTION: The direct printer comprises means 30 for holding print particles charged with a specified polarity, a back electrode 44 disposed oppositely to the print particle holding means, and a print head 50 disposed between the means 30 and the back electrode 44 and having a plurality of holes 56 for passing the print particles and electrodes 68, 70 arranged around the holes 56 wherein the print particles are applied directly to a print medium 8 being carried between the back electrode 44 and the print head 50. A positioning spacer 90 is disposed between the means 30 and the print head 50 while touching the surface of the means 30 and at least the part of the spacer 90 touching the means 30 is made of a material susceptible to abrasion with the print particles. |
