PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an AlN-BN based refractory capable of sharply reducing the abrasion of a refractory by applying an AlN-concentrated coating film to a site having a problem of abrasion due to the flow of melted steel. SOLUTION: This AlN-BN based refractory is provided with a refractory main body 3 and an AlN-concentrated coating film 18 covering a part or all the parts of the surface layer portion of the main body to bury the pores of the main body. The refractory main body 3 has a porosity of 10-45% and contains the AlN and the BN in a total amount of >=65 wt.% wherein the AlN and the BN are contained in amounts of 15-80 wt.% and 20-85 wt.%, respectively, based on their total amount. The AlN-concentrated coating film preferably has a thickness of 0.1-5 mm. |
