PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a DNA capable of being obtained as a prescribed Sau3A restriction fragment from a specific DNA library, capable of specifying a gene informanion of an enzyme concerning biosynthesis of penicillins or the like and useful for production of medicine or the like. SOLUTION: This DNA encodes a synthetic enzyme of penicillin N or a synthetic enzyme of deacetoxycephalosporin C, has a configuration of a restriction site of formulas I or II and is obtained as Sau3A restriction fragment of 5.7 or 5.8 Kb from a DNA library of Streptomyces clavuligerus ATCC 27064. A penicillin synthetic enzyme or the like is obtained by culturing a hosn cell transformed by the recombinant vector comprising the DNA.
