PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent excessive load from acting on an engine starting means, in a vehicle provided with a manual transmission and for automatically stopping and starting an engine. SOLUTION: In an engine stop controller for stopping an engine E by prohibiting restarting of fuel supply after fuel cut by a command from an electronic control unit 1 when a clutch is in the engaged state, when the residual capacity of a capacitor 3 as a power supply of a starter motor 7 becomes the specified capacity or less, the starter motor 7 is automatically operated to start the engine E. In case where the clutch is in the engaged state and the shift position is the drive position, the operation of the starter motor 7 is prohibited by the electronic control unit 1, and excessive load is prevented from acting on the starter motor 7. |
