PHOTO-DECOMPOSITION PROCESS FOR VOLATILE ORGANIC COMPOUND BY USING VISIBLE RAY OR NEAR INFRARED RAY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photo-decomposition process for a volatile organic compound by using visible rays or near infrared rays. SOLUTION: The modification for decomposing a modifying organic compound up to 60% decomposition ritio or more by ultraviolet rays is carried out in the presence of a titanium oxide photocatalyst, and a volatile organic compound is irradiated with visible rays or near infrared rays in the presence of the modified titanium oxide photocatalyst to carry out the photo- decomposition of the organic compound. The photo-decomposition of further higher efficiency can be carried out by using the titanium oxide photocatalyst for which two times of modification by the ultraviolet rays are applied. The photo-decomposition by using visible rays and near infrared rays can be carried out to expand greatly the application fields of the titanium oxide photocatalyst.
