The boot (2) is attached to the blade (1) by a pivot mechanism (3) which allows the heel to be lifted, while maintaining full contact between the blade and the ice. The pivot (5) is under the ball of the foot. The toe of the boot has a cross pin (8) which locates in a groove (10) at the front of the pivot mechanism. The heel (H) is clamped by a lever (13) which clamps onto a hook (12) which protrudes from the rear end of the pivot mechanism.
